Description

Overview

Microsoft has recently started to roll out their New VDI solution for Teams. As soon as the rollout started, some of our customers started experiencing a fatal exception resulting in a blue screen.

This fatal exception happens only on 2203 LTSR CU2 and below (or) 2303 CR and below. This exception is related to third party virtual channels See 2203 LTSR documentation [CVADHELP-21885].Microsoft has stopped / reverted the feature rollout and currently the issue is no longer present.

Hence, the minimum requirement for VDI 2.0 optimization for Teams has been updated to 2203 LTSR CU3 and 2305 CR VDA.

Action Needed

Microsoft is going to implement version checking in their code. There should be no more fatal exception showing up anymore. Customers are recommended to upgrade to a minimum of 2203 LTSR CU3 and 2305 CR VDA in order to enable MS Teams VDI 2.0 optimization features. Any version below the recommended version will fall back to Citrix WebRTC based optimization [VDI 1.0 optimization].
