Description

When creating VDIs from a Master image that are rolled out with MCS into a Azure subscription - Users  machines are constantly shutting down

- Even when users are logged onto the machines, they consistently get shutdown after several minutes [it can vary between 3-5 | 25-30]

- The user will see a short "shutting down" message on a black screen, during the running session and the machines powers off.

- Citrix PowerManagement: "Attempted to select a machine from the unallocated idle pool for shutdown"

-  Azure > Audit logs show "Create or Update Virtual Machine Extension"

- JSON Event: "VM 'xxxxxxxxx' has not reported status for VM Agent or extension"

Resolution

Create Master Image Azure Machines without any azure extensions.

When creating Master Images in Azure (to be used for MCS deployment in Citrix Cloud) - Ensure NOT to have any extensions installed.

- Extension come automatically in Azure (if these extensions exist, in the MCS deployed machines, they will have issues which may lead to an intermittent shutdown).

- The VDI's created without any Azure extensions will get their own extensions and function properly.

Problem Cause

Azure Extensions used on Azure master Image for deploying MCS Machines results in intermittent shutdown of deployed VDA's/VDI's
