How to store ICA files of Citrix Workspace app for Windows in memory instead of the local disk

Description

When launching a resource, an ICA file is generated containing instructions on how to access the resource. Older versions of Citrix Workspace app for Windows stored this to disk. As the ICA file can contain sensitive information such as the name of the server hosting the resources, it is preferable to keep the file in-memory.

Instructions

  • It is recommended to upgrade to Citrix Workspace App for Windows 2112.1 or higher which stores ICA files in-memory.
  • For versions 2106 up to 2109.1, this feature was in tech preview and can be enabled via the following registry settings.
Admin: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\Dazzle
User: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Dazzle

Name: EnableIcaFileInMemory
Type: String Value
Value: True
After setting, restart Citrix Workspace app

Note: Citrix Workspace app for Windows version 2112.1 and higher stores ica files in memory by default so this registry setting is not required.
