Description

To demonstrate how to migrate an existing ADM instance to a newly deployed ADM server.

Instructions

These instructions assume that your ADM2 has already been set up with the minimal network configurations. For information on how to set up networking on a newly deployed ADM, please refer to https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-application-delivery-management-software/current-release/deploy/install-mas-on-xenserver.html#install-citrix-application-delivery-management

Note: Analytics data, events, ADM licenses, and syslog messages are excluded from the backup. Network configuration is not included in the backup.

  1. Citrix recommends you to restore the ADM server using a backup of the same version, so first ensure that your existing ADM server (ADM1) and the new ADM server (ADM2) are both on the same firmware version.
  2. Log in to your ADM1 administration GUI
  3. Save the configuration on your ADM1.
  4. On your ADM1 navigate to Settings > Backup Files
  5. Click on the Back Up button
  6. You may choose to password protect your backup file, if you do, selected the option Password Protect file and enter and confirm your password.
  7. Select Continue
  8. The backup process will start, this may take several minutes, depending on how much data your ADM1 contains.
  9. Once the backup process is completed, you will be presented with a list of the last 3 backup files present on your ADM1. Select the backup you just created and then select the Download option.
  10. Your backup .tgz file will start downloading. This concludes all the steps that need to be taken on your ADM1.
  11. Log in to your ADM2 administration GUI
  12. Save the configuration on your ADM2 to ensure any recent network configuration changes are saved.
  13. On your ADM2 navigate to Settings > Backup Files
  14. Click on the Upload button and select the .tgz backup file previously downloaded from your ADM1.
  15. Once the upload has been completed, you will see the backup file on the list of System Backup File on your ADM2.
  16. Select the backup file from the list and select the Restore option.
  17. Select Yes from the confirmation pop-up.
  18. The restore process will begin and may take several minutes to complete
  19. Once the restore process is complete you can access your ADM2 and confirm that the configuration and data from your ADM1 are now on your ADM2.
