• Citrix Workspace App (CWA) version 2109 and above will fail to install on Windows Server 2012 R2 Systems with the error "Unable to install the following prerequisites. Install them manually and then try to install Citrix workspace App again.”
• Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime: Error Code: -2147219198
• Installation/Upgrade to Server VDA version LTSR 1912 CU6 and above on Windows Server 2012 R2 with default settings using the Meta installer fails at component initialization step due to the above issue.

For standalone Citrix Workspace App installation:
Installing Citrix Workspace App 2203 LTSR CU3 on Windows 2012R2 will resolve this issue.

For Server VDA installation or upgrade use case:

There is no solution.

As a workaround, follow below steps:

1. If CWA is not needed on server VDA, exclude CWA installation during the server VDA installation using a checkbox provided and proceed with the VDA installation or upgrade.
2. Manually install the Edge WebView2 runtime version 109 on Windows Server 2012 R2 before installing/upgrading to Server VDA version 1912 CU6 and above, along with the Citrix Workspace App component. Edge WenView2 Runtime installer could be downloaded from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=edge-webview2%20

Problem Cause

1. Citrix Workspace App uses Evergreen bootstrapper to download and install the latest Edge WebView2 runtime during its installation.
2. On 9th Feb a new version 110.0.1518.78 was released for WebView2 Runtime. As per the Microsoft article “Microsoft Edge version 109 will be the last version supported on Windows Server 2012 and Windows 2012 R2. Microsoft Edge version 109 will receive critical security fixes and fixes for known exploit bugs until October 10, 2023” 
3. During CWA installation, the evergreen bootstrapper downloads and installs version 110 which is not supported.
4. This results in CWA installation failure on all Windows 2K12R2 machines from Feb 9th, 2023.
