Understand why Director logon stats not matching end user experience
As per Citrix documentation, the Interactive Sessions metric is the duration between Event 1000 and Event 2 (Interactive Session Duration = Desktop Ready Event Timestamp (EventId 1000 on VDA) – User Profile Loaded Event Timestamp (EventId 2 on VDA).
However, the actual end user experience is not a reflection of what these logs suggest and we’d like to understand why this may be the case.
Instructions
After Desktop Ready Event Timestamp (EventId 1000 on VDA) two phases happen.
1. Userinit
When a user logs on to a Windows machine, Winlogon runs userinit.exe. Userinit.exe runs logon scripts, re-establishes network connections, and then starts Explorer.exe, the Windows user interface.
2.Shell
In the previous phase, Userinit starts the initialization of the Windows user interface. The Shell sub-phase captures the duration between the initialization of the user interface to the time user receives keyboard and mouse control.
The sub-phases described above will contribute to the lag between user experience and the duration between Event 1000 and Event 2
When we see event ID 1000 desktop is ready but user does not have keyboard and mouse control yet. From the user experience keyboard and mouse control will define the time from when can user desktop
