Description
When a user attempts to use his webcam in an ICA session the webcam shows only a black, grey or an error message (depending on app) instead of video stream.
Environment
Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
Resolution
Please use the Windows camera app on the client to find the Microsoft front/read webcams supported resolutions and force the webcam redirection logic to use one of the supported resolutions (preferably lowest to minimize bandwidth consumption) by setting the registry high lighted in the red box below: (DO NOT change the Disable_HighDefWebcam value to 1)

Some customers however have found the workaround to not work. It seems to be dependent on the built version and edition of the SurfacePro device. The product team is aware and are working on implement the features necessary to support SurfacePro HDX Optimised Webcam redirection. The other workaround is to use USB Generic Webcam redirection for these devices.
Problem Cause
The traces indicate that none of the Media format's Media Subtype sent by client for the webcams is in the server side pre-defined subtypes list and hence server does not send any webcam supported resolutions down to the client when sending the request to build the webcam capture filter graph on the client side.
