In March of 2024, Citrix announced new subscription types - Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud, Citrix Platform License, and Citrix for Private Cloud. The Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud and Citrix Platform License subscriptions are built to run Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops workloads on-premises, in the cloud, or a mix of both. Citrix’s previous hybrid rights capabilities with the SaaS bit are built in. Organizations leveraging these subscriptions on the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2203 LTSR and later can provision to the cloud from on-premises deployments when on both Current Releases (CR) or Long Term Service Releases (LTSR).
The Citrix for Private Cloud subscription is intended for organizations whose deployments are fully on-premises. Therefore, organizations with this subscription type are not able to leverage cloud resources from their on-premises deployments.
The Hybrid Rights subscription license file with the SaaS bit has a license attribute to showcase that the subscription license file is a Hybrid Rights license, as compared to an on-premises term or perpetual license. That license attribute enables Public Cloud support within the release.
Existing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops customers with Hybrid Rights capabilities with the SaaS bit have an updated Hybrid Rights subscription license in their My Citrix Account.
Citrix allows public cloud hosting and provisioning on Citrix DaaS with Hybrid Rights, Citrix Universal Subscription, Citrix On-Premises Term Subscription, and Citrix On-Premises CSP Term Subscription. Organizations must be leveraging the 2203 LTSR or later* to take advantage of cloud provisioning from on-premises.
As long as you have a Hybrid Rights license file with the SaaS bit in your environment, you can continue to leverage the cloud provisioning capability.
Organizations leveraging On-Premises term subscriptions with cloud provisioning will need to leverage the Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud subscription after renewal as the Citrix for Private Cloud subscription does not allow cloud provisioning from on-premises.
Customers leveraging Hybrid Rights license files with the SaaS bit may run their Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure in public clouds and connect to on-prem and cloud workloads.
Reference the LTSR FAQ and Hybrid Rights Licenses for more information.
*Organizations leveraging the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 1912 LTSR are also able to provision to the cloud from on-premises while the release is supported
