Description

  1. Citrix Admin do not see any VMs and VM Snapshots which are hosted in VMWare environment while creating new or updating existing Machine Catalogs.
  2. No problem found in Hosting connections.
  3. PowerShell command 'Get-ProvScheme' on Delivery Controller gives proper output for all existing Machine Catalogs where admin can see the Master Image and Snapshot details.
  4. All VDI machines shows Powerstate 'Unknown' in Citrix Studio.
  5. Machine Catalog test gives following error.
Make sure that the selected Virtual Machine exists.
The VM exists in the Hypervisor.
Test run on entire Site
The VM 'VDI Name' was not found in the Hypervisor because of error 'Machine not found for uuid '<UUID of the VDI>'.
The referenced VM does not exist in the Hypervisor. Delete the phantom database records using Remove-ProvVM.

Resolution

  1. Create a new VM on vCenter, make sure the new VM is not part of any group in vCenter.
  2. Check if the new VM is visible while creating/updating Machine Catalog, if it is visible try to move out one existing VM out from group in vCenter and check same is visible while updating Machine Catalog.
  3. If test 1 and 2 successful, vCenter admin must have created vApp group in vCenter and moved all VMs to it. VMs in vApp type group will not be visible in Catalog creation/update. If VMs are part of Resource Group, they will visible.

Problem Cause

VMs in vApp type group will not be visible in Catalog creation/update. If VMs are part of Resource Group, they will visible.
