Failed to launch ICA file after upgrade to Citrix Receiver for Windows 4.9 LTSR CU6 on Windows server

Description

After upgrade to Citrix Receiver for Windows 4.9 LTSR CU6 on Windows 2008R2/2012 end point, user is not able to launch any published resource due to wfica32.exe crashed with bugcheck code 0xc0000135.

The following error might be popped-up:

Unable to launch your application
Contact your help desk and provide them with the following information:
Cannot open the Citrix Receiver.
NOTE: The issue does not happen on Windows Server that VDA is installed because Media Foundation or Desktop Experience is enabled automatically while installing VDA.

Resolution

For Windows Server 2012 R2, please enable Media Foundation option in the Add Roles and Features wizard:

1. Launch Server Manager from Windows server 2012 R2 end-point.
2. Click on Add Roles and Features.
3. Select Media Foundation from Features list.
4. Click on Next and Install to finish wizard.

For Windows Server 2008 R2, please enable Desktop Experience option in the Add Features wizard.

Problem Cause

In order to fix [LC7948], Citrix Receiver for Windows 4.9 LTSR CU6 implented IMFPresentationDescriptor, which has dependence on MFPlat.dll(Media Foundation)

Windows Media Redirection client-side content fetching might fail. The issue occurs when you play multimedia files that contain script streams, which are archived from a live web stream. [LC7948]
