Description
- This folder redirection fails with “Access Denied” as per CDF Trace as well as Procmon during failure.
- After launching published desktop session ,the properties of “Desktop (i.e. or any folder what is configured for folder redirection)” ,that shows “C:\Users\Username\Desktop” instead of the redirected UNC location.
- Procmon Log also shows the following behaviour :
Non-working :
6:32:13.0261306 PM svchost.exe 1452 RegQueryValue HKU\USER_SID\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisablePersonalDirChange SUCCESS Type: REG_DWORD, Length: 4, Data: 1
Working :
3:26:37.7688578 AM svchost.exe 1408 RegQueryValue HKU\USER_SID\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisablePersonalDirChange NAME NOT FOUND Length: 144
- HKCU hive for the logged in user with ICA session shows the following value is shown in the registry (i.e. Same as Procmon):
This registry is controlled by “Prohibit User from manually redirecting Profile Folders” Windows policy under User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Desktop
- With this policy “Enabled” ,users will not be able to type/modify a new location in the target box.
In this case “Redirected Folder location” was not getting changed with this policy enabled.
Resolution
- To make it work "Disable" the “Prohibit User from manually redirecting Profile Folders” Windows policy under User Configuration -> Administrative Templates ->
Desktop
- After disabling that policy the properties of “Desktop (i.e. or any folder which is configured for folder redirection)” ,that shows the “UNC Location” as set in the policy.
Problem Cause
With “Prohibit User from manually redirecting Profile Folders” policy enabled ,users will not be able to redirect profile folders to a desired UNC path.
