Description

When trying to launch a XenApp application, getting error message C:\program files *x86)\Citrix\system32\CtMTHost.exe A referral was returned from the server

Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Resolution

Disable UAC on the VDA by following the below steps:
  • Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
  • Change the value of the REG DWORD "EnableLUA" from 1 to 0
  • Restart the VDA
If you are using MCS catalog, you will have to apply this change to the Master Image.
