Description

Serial Console Access Issues    

Case 1

If all of the following are true, the reason code should be classified as a boot issue.

  1. The LCD display is stuck at "booting: message.

  2. There is no output from the serial console.

  3. The system NSIP cannot be accessed using SSH or Ping.

  4. The behavior from Steps 1, 2 and 3 persists even after changing power cables and exercising the power switch on NetScaler.

Case 2

If all of the following are true, the reason code should be classified as a boot issue.

  1. The LCD panel does not glow with neon backlight and does not display anything when first powered on.

  2. The LEDs of all the network interfaces are lit and the fans are spinning.

  3. There is no output from the serial console.

  4. The system NSIP cannot be accessed using ssh or ping.

  5. The behavior from Steps 1, 2 and 3 persists even after changing power cables and exercising the power switch on NetScaler.

Boot Loader Issues

The system displays the following messages when power-cycled.

No /boot/loader
>>Netscaler boot: 0:ad(0,1,a)/boot/loader

>>Netscaler boot: 0:ad(0,1,a)/boot/loader
 
boot:
No /boot/loader
>>Netscaler boot: 0:ad(0,1,a)/boot/loader

Continuous reboots

If the system reboots continuously with or without a crash dump and logon to the system is not possible due to the reboots then verify power supply and/or error messages. Refer to CTX202340 - Troubleshooting Power Supply Voltage Warnings on NetScaler for more information.
