Description
Running Xendesktop Enivronment 7.x, using legacy graphics mode for Xendesktop and recently upgraded Adobe reader to version : :Acrobat Reader DC 17.012.20098" after the Upgrade mouse is sluggish in HDX session.
Resolution
1. Disable legacy graphics mode policy for VDA.
Workaround
Use older version of Adobe reader DC and enable legacy graphics mode.
NOTE: Legacy graphics mode is not tested or supported with modern operating systems: Windows Desktop OS: 8, 8.1, 10 or Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 & Windows Server 2016.
Recommendations
Request Adobe to provide a way to disable use of 32-bit cursors in their app so it will function properly with Legacy Graphics. We cannot make Legacy Graphics support 32-bit cursors.
NOTE: Solution shared by Adobe to Disable the Scalable attribute cursor feature from Adobe which is implemented in new release of Adobe reader DC does not resolve the issue.
Create a DWORD at the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown\
DWORD: bShouldUseScalableCursor Value: 0
Above setting does not alter the type of cursor used by Adobe Reader in new version. This has been checked internally.
Problem Cause
Adobe Reader DC upgrade to version DC 17.012.20098 introduced 32-bit cursor which is not supported with Citrix Legacy graphics mode.
Legacy graphics, being legacy, does not support 32-bit cursors and the cursor rendering is performed on the server which means the cursor cannot be rendered locally on the endpoint which results in poor cursor performance.
