RDP Initial App is now available to use in Server 2012 R2 and Server 2016

 

RDP Initial App is used to troubleshoot seamless problems in published applications. This feature was not available when Server 2012 was initially released

 

Step 1: Edit the Policy

-Go to Policy

-Under User tab, edit the unfiltered policy

-Click on ICA,

Edit the following policies “Launching of non-published programs during client connection” and “Desktop Launches”

-Enable both.

*NOTE: For non-admin users, add the username to Direct Users Group on the VDA

Go to MSTSC and point to the VDA Hosting the application
 
       

Click on Programs and check the Start the following program or connection box and copy the application path

NOTE: If running from Windows 10 client, download an older version of Remote desktop Connection manager i.e RDCMan v2.7 build 1406.0
