Description

NetScaler SD-WAN is configured with the ISP router as DHCP server. After replacing the ISP Router, NetScaler SD-WAN appliance does not renew the IP address from the new ISP router.

The IP address is renewed automatically after some time, may be after few days in some cases.

Resolution

By default, NetScaler SD-WAN appliance will renew the DHCP address upon expiry of the lease period. However, the DHCP address can be released/renewed manually from the NetScaler SD-WAN appliance before the expiry time.

To release/renew, Navigate to Configuration > Virtual WAN > Enable/Disable/Purge Flows. This will list a table of WAN Links with DHCP enabled interfaces, where the DHCP can be released and renewed.

Problem Cause

NetScaler SD-WAN follows the RFC for DHCP. Per design, the very first attempt to renew the IP address will occur at 50% of the lease time. However, if there is a need for renewal of IP address before the above said time, then it needs to be done manually.
