Description

This article helps you identify active user sessions connected to Citrix Gateway vServers. This solution will work on all Citrix Gateway firmware versions.

Instructions

View Active Users Sessions Connected to a Citrix Gateway vServer

  1. Login to the ADC CLI via an SSH client such as Putty with an account that has super user permissions such as nsroot.

  2. Drop to shell:
    command: shell

  3. Navigate to the log directory:
    command: cd /var/log

  4. More the nslog and grep for the IP of the NetScaler Gateway vServer. This will show all logins to that vServer.

    Example :

    root@Val105# cd /var/log
    root@Val105# more ns.log | grep <Citrix Gateway VIP>

Note: You can grep the ns.log on any parameter. For example : user name , client IP, name of the app the user launched etc.
Some key words that are mostly used:

  • ICASTART, ICAEND - for application launch and end.
  • LOGIN, LOGOFF- for logon and logoff of a user.
Note: ADC is case sensitive. If you are unsure of the case use the "-i" switch prior to the string you are searching for.
command: more ns.log | grep -i login
