Description

Application Launch Failure, Error: .ica file does not contain an Address or DeviceName entry.
User-added image

Further examination of the ICA file reveals that during reported connection failures the ICA file is malformed and does not contain addressing information for the session host.

Resolution

1. Configure ICA file logging (CTX115304).
2. Compare working and nonworking ICA files, and determine whether the addressing information for the session host is missing in the nonworking file.
3. If the addressing information is missing, ensure that antivirus exclusions are configured for the ICA file on the client endpoints.

Problem Cause

ICA file is being malformed due to third party software installed on the system. Often, this is due to antivirus real-time scanning such as the TrendMicro process ntrtscan.exe. Further validation can be performed by capturing a Process Monitoring trace and filtering on the path by the .ica file extension.
