Description

A video is located in a web server. When the video was accessed using Windows Media Player via http protocol, Windows Media client-side content fetching works as expected. However when the same video is accessed via mms protocol, Windows Media client-side content fetching doesn't work. Instead, Windows Media Redirection is used.

Resolution

Access the video via http protocol, or use another player other than Windows Media Player.

Problem Cause

When a video is played back via mms protocol, Windows Media Player loads and uses an original DirectShow source filter. This internal behavior of Windows Media Player interferes with performing client-content fetching.
