Description

The AppSense Environment Manager can be used to personalize Unidesk Desktop features (e.g. wallpaper) across Desktops, but personalizing applications and fine-grained application management (e.g. disabling printing from IE) is not currently working out of the box. This is because AppSense only manages applications if it sees the complete path for the application, and some applications are not started using the complete path.

Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Resolution

To allow the required information to be passed to Unidesk for application personalization and management, the Unidesk Desktop will need to change the name of the path of each application as it is starting to the complete path. This will allow AppSense to manage the application correctly.

To achieve this, you'll need to add a value to the registry, called ForceFullPathOnImageLoad, as follows:

  1. Run regedit.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > unifltr.
  3. Add the registry flag ForceFullPathOnImageLoad as a DWORD value, and set it to one (1).

Note: AppSense reports that this issue was fixed in Environment Manager 8.5.720.
