Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Resolution

  1. Open Regedit
  2. Browse to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\ and locate the value PagingFiles on the right side pane.
  3. Change the registry file type from REG_SZ to REG_MULTI_SZ

Problem Cause

If the "PagingFiles" registry type located at HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\ is changed from REG_MULTI_SZ to REG_SZ targets will experience a BSOD: IRQL NOT Less or Equal on the first boot after being created via the XenDesktop Setup Wizard.
