Description

  • In some cases you may need to set uni-directional clipboard redirection where you may need restrict client to server clipboard redirection or server to client clipboard redirection.

Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Resolution

Configure the below policies from XenApp/XenDesktop Studio or Citrix Group Policy Management Console:
  • Client Clipboard Redirection: Allowed
  • Restrict Client Clipboard Write: Enabled
This will restrict users to copy/paste from ICA Session to the Client Machine i.e. When this setting is Enabled, host clipboard data cannot be shared with the client endpoint
  • Client Clipboard Redirection: Allowed
  • Restrict Session Clipboard Write: Enabled
This will restrict users to copy/paste from Client Machines to ICA Session i.e. When this setting is Enabled, client clipboard data cannot be shared within the user session

Note: This will also restrict Copy and paste of text between two ICA sessions, if the sessions are established on different VDAs.
However, In a shared session (two applications running from the same Windows session on the VDA) copy and paste will work.

Compatibility Note: This is not achievable in XenDesktop 7.5 or below since Restrict Client Clipboard Write and Restrict Session Clipboard Write Policies were not present in earlier versions
