Upgrading a server 2012 R2 VDA from 7.6.300 to 7.8 failed, giving errors about Installation of MSI File 'profilemgt_x64.msi' failed with code 'InstallFailure' (1603). Unable to get past this error, Also profile management is not working so user profiles are not working properly on the server.

Run the Microsoft "Fix It" tool to resolve this issue.

Problem Cause

Possibly Registry Keys for UPM component were corrupted or we were missing permissions to access them (still, probably because corrupted).
