Customer installs the Citrix Licensing portion of XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2. The customer then upgrades the Citrix Licensing Server to the newest version from the downloads section of Citrix's website. After the upgrade the customer then completes the install of XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2. The installation is successful but now the Citrix Licensing Service is randomly crashing.
 

 

The Citrix License Server for XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 needs to be upgraded after the install of  XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2.

There are a few different Solutions:

Solution 1 (The recommended way this is so the issue does not occur):

1. Install the Citrix Licensing Server that comes with XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2.
2. Install XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2.
3. Finally after a reboot of the server , you can now upgrade Citrix Licensing to the latest version.

OR

Solution 2 (If the issue has already occurred):
Uninstall the Citrix Licensing Server and install the original version that came with  XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2.

OR

Solution 3 (If the issue has already occurred):
Uninstall the Citrix Licensing Server and re-install just the latest version.

Problem Cause

This is caused by upgrading the Citrix licensing Server before completing the install for XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2.

NOTE: Installation Key Points

1. XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 for Windows Server 2008 R2 Edition must be installed on a freshly imaged Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. It is not possible to uninstall and then reinstall
XenApp Fundamentals on the same machine.

2. To use Citrix Licensing 11.10 or 11.11 with XenApp Fundamentals 6.0, upgrade the Citrix License
Server after installing XenApp Fundamentals 6.0 . 

Important! Do not upgrade the license server before completing XenApp Fundamentals installation.
