Description

Incorrect IP in ICA File for VDA with multiple NICs (Multi-Homed)

Details:
Admin made changes to the NIC configuration after the machine was registered with XenDesktop Controller and now the incorrect IP is provided in the ICA file.
When the machine was originally added to the Catalog the wrong NIC was at the top of the Binding order.
ICA file is getting generated with the IP of the secondary NIC.

Resolution

DNS resolution can be enabled on the XenDekstop Site level to resolve this issue.

In an elevated PowerShell Type:

asnp citrix*

Set-BrokerSite -DnsResolutionEnabled $true

More about the command:

DnsResolutionEnabled :
Changes whether ICA files returned by a broker service to a user device contain the numeric IP address or the DNS name of the desktop machine to which a session should be established.
With the default value ($false), ICA files will always contain a numeric IP address. To have DNS names appear in the ICA files, set the value to $true.

Even when DNS resolution is enabled ($true), IP addresses may still appear in ICA files. The reasons for this include, for example, that the broker service is unable to obtain a DNS name for the target machine, or that Web Interface is configured to always use numeric IP addresses in this context.

Note: It may also be a good idea to remove the machine from the catalog. Fix the binding order in Windows, then add the machine to the catalog  so that the machine registers with the DDC with the correct IP. This will be sure the IP record in the database is correct.

Problem Cause

Machine IP is stored in the site database upon registration. This value is not editable thru GUI or PowerShell.
