Description

We can check the current reported output from the MPX 8XXX device using the command

> stat system detail
CPU Fan 0 Speed (RPM)                           4050
CPU Fan 1 Speed (RPM)                            4050
System Fan Speed (RPM)                         4050
System Fan 1 Speed (RPM)                       4200
System Fan 2 Speed (RPM)                       4200
CPU 0 Temperature (Celsius)              100
CPU 1 Temperature (Celsius)                           0
Internal Temperature (Celsius)                     56
Power supply 1 status                           NORMAL
Power supply 2 status                           NORMAL

Resolution

As per the output of command "ipmitoo_sel_elist" output shows that cpu has burned up.

ipmitool_sel_elist.out
   1 | 08/29/2014 | 21:30:49 | Temperature CPU Temp | Upper Non-critical going high | Reading 100 > Threshold 95 degrees C
   2 | 08/29/2014 | 21:30:49 | Temperature CPU Temp | Upper Critical going high | Reading 100 > Threshold 98 degrees C
   3 | 08/29/2014 | 21:30:49 | Temperature CPU Temp | Upper Non-recoverable going high | Reading 100 > Threshold 100 degrees C

Device has to be RMA'ed if this issue is observed.

Problem Cause

cpu burned.
Looking at this screenshot we see that CPU reports "nr" that is because *upper non-recoverable* threshold value for this sensor is 100.
