This article explains how to configure Citrix Receiver for Windows 4.2 to display application icons on the server side and client desktop.
Complete the following procedure:
Publish application to a delivery group in Citrix Studio (If applications are already published, go to Step 2).
After the application is published, right-click the application and choose Properties.
The Properties screen appers. Go to Identification tab.
In the Description field, type Keyword:Auto, which auto subscribes this application for the user.
Repeat this for all applications the user needs to see on the desktop.
Note: When Self-Service option is disabled for users by enabling the PutShortcutsOnDesktop feature, users lose their ability to add applications as needed. As a workaround, publish all applications in the delivery group with the Keyword: Auto option to ensure that the users see all their applications on the desktop.
Caution! Refer to the Disclaimer at the end of this article before using Registry Editor.
Install Citrix Receiver 4.2 (either through the command line with configurations or by double-clicking the exe).
Go to registry key HKLM >Software > Wow6432Node (or Software on x86 machines) > Citrix > Dazzle.
Set SelfServiceMode to False (This disables the Citrix application display window from showing up and must be disabled in order to have the desktop populate the published application icons).
Set PutShortcutsOnDesktop to True.
Exit Citrix Receiver for Windows and reopen.
There are many options that you can now configure in 4.2. For a list of all configurations refer Registry keys for shortcuts customization. If you see an option in the preceding link and you do not see it in your registry settings, add the value and set the appropriate.
