This article describes how to re-enable Audio Devices that are disabled because of a power crash or forced reboot of a Remote PC Endpoint.

Background

If a Remote PC endpoint is powered off or forced to reboot, all the audio devices are disabled when the reboot completes. The Audio Devices can be manually re-enabled and this action does not require administration authorization.


Instructions

Note: If the audio devices are disabled, the Speaker icon on the task bar will have a red X next to it.

Complete the following steps to re-enable Audio Devices that are disabled because of a power crash or forced reboot of a Remote PC Endpoint:

  1. Right-click on the Speaker and select Playback devices.

  1. In Sound screen, if No Audio devices are installed message appears, right-click in the box and select Show Disabled Devices, as displayed in the following screen shots:

    This will show all Playback devices that are disabled:

  1. Right-click the required device and select Enable.

    The device should now be enabled and function as expected.

Note: The same procedure can be used to re-enable any Recording devices that are disabled.
