Important Note(s) about This Release

• This release is based on the XenDesktop 7.5 VDA Monitor Plugin (64-bit). It patches only systems where Version 7.5 of the VDA Monitor Plugin (64-bit) is installed. Any known issues in Version 7.5 of the product, except for the specific issues resolved in this limited release, still apply.
• You can upgrade the VDA Monitor Plugin from a console session or from an RDP session. Upgrading from within an ICA session is not supported.
• The VDA Monitor Plugin enhancement (#LC0248) fails to report hotfix inventory data if you install it before the VDA is added to a Delivery Group. As a workaround, add the VDA to a Delivery Group before you apply the VDA Monitor Plugin enhancement (#LC0248). This ensures that the hotfix inventory data is sent to the controller immediately after you install the enhancement. Otherwise, the hotfix inventory data will not be sent until the next time you install a hotfix on the VDA.
• Caution! This release may require you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

1. This is an enhancement for customers that run mixed environments that consist of a XenDesktop 7.6 (or later) Controller and 7.5 VDAs. Applying this update to the 7.5 VDA allows the 7.6 (or later) Controller to collect 7.5 VDA hotfix inventory information.

Installing and Uninstalling this Release

Notes:

• This release is packaged as a .zip file containing the replacement VdaMonitorPlugin_x64.msi file. For more information about deploying msi files, see Microsoft article 884016 or visit the Microsoft Web site and search on keyword msiexec.
• Caution: Downgrades, also known as rollbacks, from this upgrade are not supported and might leave your systems in an unstable state. This upgrade does not patch the existing installation - it fully replaces it with a new installation. As a result, uninstalling this package removes the entire component from the computer. If the need arises to revert to an earlier version of the product, you must uninstall this package and then reinstall the earlier version of the product. Reverting to an earlier version of the product might result in the loss of settings you configure while this upgrade is installed.
• To install this package successfully, servers must not have registry modification restrictions in place.
• This package might or might not prompt you to restart the server when the installation or uninstallation is complete. You must restart the computer for the installation to complete.

To install this package:

• Copy the file to a shared folder on the network.
• Extract the compressed file and save the VdaMonitorPlugin_x64.msi file on the computer you want to update.
• Run the .msi file.

To uninstall this package:

• From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel.
• In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
• Highlight the hotfix you want to uninstall and click Remove.
• Follow the directions on-screen.

If it does not exist already, this will add a new entry, Citrix Monitor Service VDA Plugin, to Programs and Features.
