Description

This article describes how to enable connections from Receiver for HTML 5 to Windows 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services (RDS) desktops deployed using Machine Creation Services (MCS).

Instructions

Caution! Refer to the Disclaimer at the end of this article before using Registry Editor.

The following steps are necessary to allow Receiver for HTML5 connections to Windows 2012 R2 RDS desktops that were created using MCS. On the master image, add the following registry entries:

  • From Regedit go to the following location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\GroupPolicy\Defaults and create a key “ICAPolicies” if not already present.

Note: This workaround is not recommended in case of a Citrix Deployment using App Orchestration.
  • Add the registry keys shown in the following table:

Name

Type

Value (in decimal)

AcceptWebSocketsConnections

REG_DWORD

1

WebSocketsPort

REG_DWORD

8008

WSTrustedOriginServerList

REG_SZ

*

  • Shut down the machine and create a new snapshot. Use this snapshot as the master image.

  • Do not push the Web Socket Policies to the machines being provisioned using this master image.

Note: You might run rsop.msc on the master image VM and see if the Web Socket policies are available.

Environment

Caution! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.
