This article describes how to reset the XenServer Host password on a CloudBridge 2000/3000/4000/5000. The procedure can be completed when credentials are not working to access the SVM, XS, and Serial Console.
To reset the XenServer Host password, complete the following steps:
Connect to the LOM port UI using the default credentials “nsroot/nsroot”.
Navigate to the Remote Control tab, select Remote Console from the Options.
Click Launch Console.
Open a new connection to the Serial Console port of the CloudBridge appliance.
From Serial Console, restart the XenServer by completing the following steps:
Press Ctrl+AAA (press the A key three times).
Press Shift+R.
When XenServer is restarting, monitor the Lights Out Management (LOM) Redirection Viewer output.
When the server completes the BIOS procedure in the Redirection Viewer output, type menu.c32 and press Enter at the boot: prompt.
Immediately, select the xe-serial as the default boot option, and press Tab.
Add single parameter on the command listed. Navigate the command using the keyboard arrow keys.
Note: The position of the single parameter is important. This parameter must be placed between the first and second set of hyphens (---), as shown in the following screen shot:
Press Enter.
The XenServer starts to a root shell prompt (sh-3.2#).
On Serial Console, run the passwd command to change the root password to nsroot.
On Serial Console, restart the XenServer.
Now, XenServer IP can be accessed using the newly entered password “root/nsroot”.
