Error ID XDDS:84D81E3A: “Failed to copy the snapshot image [image name] to the storage reference by the Resources [Resource name].

Requirements

To enable CredSSP on HyperV, you will require administrative privileges on that machine.

Background

There can be a few reasons for an image failing to be copied to a hypervisor’s storage, such as a network failure. This particular error; XDDS:84D81E3A, is caused by a PowerShell Remoting failure. XenDesktop uses PowerShell Remoting to execute a script on HyperV  when copying the Master Image to the hypervisor storage.

CredSSP must be enabled on the HyperV machines to allow that script to execute using the credentials provided to XenDesktop when creating a connection to HyperV.

Resolution

To diagnose that this is actually the issue and for direction on how to fix it, use the following steps:
  1. Open Studio.

  2. Access the Hosting node and select the resource that was used to create the catalog.

  3. Click Test Resource from the Actions pane:

    User-added image
  4. After the tests are completed, open the report (Show Report).

  5. Follow the details on how to resolve the issue from the generated report that contains this issue, and potentially other issues.


Problem Cause

This problem occurs only with SCVMM 2012 Service Pack 1 with SMB storage.
