This article describes how to configure the initial setup on a CloudBridge 2000 or 3000 appliance from factory default state.
Initial configuration requires local access to the CloudBridge appliance on the default IP address 192.168.100.1/16.
To configure a management IP address on a CloudBridge 2000 or 3000 appliance, complete the following procedure by directly connecting an available PC to the CloudBridge. Alternatively you can also configure a management IP address via the Serial Console port on the CloudBridge. For more information refer to CTX138453 - How to Configure Managment SVM IP Address on CloudBridge 2000, 3000, 4000, or 5000 Using Serial Console.
Plug an Ethernet cable into the primary port (0/1), and connect it to a laptop or other device with Chrome or Firefox Web browser.
Set the IP address for the Ethernet port on the laptop to 192.168.100.5, with a netmask 255.255.0.0. Retain the gateway and DNS server fields blank.
Power on the CloudBridge appliance.
Validate IP address connectivity to the CloudBridge with the ping command from the laptop to the default IP address of 192.168.100.1.
If 192.168.100.1 is not accessible, verify the laptop network configuration and that the cables are connected correctly. If the network configuration seems to be correct, then connect the CloudBridge appliance to a serial console and verify if there are any system hangs or stalls in the boot process. If system hangs are found, then power cycle the appliance. If the CloudBridge is unable to recover by itself, proceed with contacting Citrix Support for help on the factory reset process using Dom0.
If you have successful IP connectivity from the laptop, then log onto the management VM at http://192.168.100.1 using the default credentials (nsroot/nsroot).
Click Get Started to view the Platform Configuration page, allowing you to configure the IP address of the appliance to connect to the management network.
*If there are any new IP addresses that don’t respond after the change, check default IP with the PC back on the same subnet to see if there is still IP connectivity to the default IP.
After initial platform configuration, you might need to upgrade the firmware because the factory reset appliance will have initial RTM builds.
Note: Refer to the Upgrading Service VM and CloudBridge Software section to upgrade the firmware of the appliance.
Important! Ensure that the Service VM and the CloudBridge subnet and gateway are existing in the same network. Otherwise, version incompatibility arises as shown in the following screen shot and CloudBridge cannot be upgraded:
CloudBridge 2000 or 3000 software support started with CloudBridge software release 6.2.2 45 for Branch Repeater or CloudBridge appliances and NetScaler software release 10 72.5007 for Service VM. Refer Citrix Download for the latest software releases. To upgrade to the latest releases, complete the following procedure:
Download the required build file from the Citrix web site.
For Service VM upgrade, in CloudBridge Management Service page, select System as shown in the following screen shot:
Select System > Configuration > Management Service > Software Images.
Click Upload and upload the new management service software, as shown in the following screen shot:
After the file is uploaded, select System > Configuration > System > Upgrade Management Service and upgrade the Service VM.
Select the recently uploaded Service VM build and click OK and confirm the upgrade request.
After the upgrade, you may encounter the following warning message about “Version Incompatibility Detected”. You can click the “Recommendations” button for more detail. It will likely instruct you to also upgrade the Repeater instance, as outlined in the following steps.
To upgrade the CloudBridge instance, in CloudBridge Management Service page, select Repeater as shown in the following screen shot:
Select Repeater > Configuration > System Maintenance > Update Software.
Click Choose File.
Select the new CloudBridge software, and click Upload Patch, as shown in the following screen shot:
The new software is copied to the appliance and tested for integrity. If you have downloaded a valid file, a Restart Unit prompt appears. At the Restart Unit prompt, click Yes.
