Unable to perform print operation from certain applications when the Printer Share Name is long.

Resolution

Contact the vendor of the corresponding application.The vendor might address the limitation or provides a workaround. Until the issue is resolved, use the following suggestions:

Note: This option uses EMF or XPS drivers which reduces the length of printer name.

  1. Specify short names for the printer.

  2. Use directly connected network printer or session printer. Do not allow the application to automatically create the printer.

    Note: This eliminates the X Session manager tasks to reduce the printer name.

  3. Enable the Auto-create generic universal printer user printing policy in user client printers.
  4. Enable the Client Printer Name user printing policy with Legacy Printer Names option.

    Note: Some applications use this option to reduce to the printer name.

Problem Cause

Some programs cannot print to printers that have names that are longer than 31 characters.
