This article describes how to edit the size of the vDisks attached to existing desktops of the user.
Personal vDisk allows creation of personal desktops for use with VDI-in-a-Box. A personal desktop provides space that allows the users to store the data, and install applications, while still providing a centrally managed desktop image that can be updated by an administrator without interfering with the end user data.
When creating a VDI-in-a-Box template to create personal desktops, the template allows the administrator to type the desired size for the personal disks that will be attached to the desktops generated from this template. You can modify the template at any time to increase or reduce the size of the personal disk for all new desktops generated from the template. However, changing the template does not affect the size of the personal vDisks attached to any pre-existing desktops.
The following are the steps to complete the task:
XenServer
Shut down the personal desktop from the vdiManager User Sessions tab.
Connect to XenCenter, and select Shut down personal desktop.
Select Storage.
Select personal disk from the list of storage devices for the Virtual Machine.
Select Properties.
Select Size and Location.
Adjust the size to the new value and click OK.
ESX
Shut down the personal desktop.
Connect to the hypervisor through the vSphere client.
Select Shut down personal desktop.
Click Edit Virtual Machine on the Getting Started tab.
Click Hard Disk 2 and modify Provisioned Size accordingly.
Hyper-V
Shut down the personal desktop.
Connect to the Hyper-V Manager.
Select Shut down personal desktop and click Settings.
Select the Personal vDisk Hard Drive from the settings screen and click Edit.
Select Expand and type New Size as required.
After the vDisk is resized using the hypervisor tools, the Personal vDisk automatically utilizes the new space by expanding the available vDisk storage to use the new amount specified in the previous steps.
