Description
Provisioning Services Server 6.0 and later Target Devices utilizing Windows 7 or Windows 2008 Server OS receiving their streaming IP from DHCP, randomly start up to the Windows splash screen and stop at blue screen 0x000000BC. This error translates to a duplicate network address.
Resolution
Complete the following steps to fix the issue:
- On your Windows DHCP server, under Properties click on the Advanced tab.
-
Change the DHCP Conflict detection attempts from the default setting of 0 to 1.
- Click OK to save your changes.

This setting resolves the issue because the DHCP server pings the IP before leasing it out.
BDM:If the vdisk image was captured using a static IP then it must use a static IP when it streams to other targets in standard mode. It is not possible to change the TCP/IP mode from Static to Dynamic while the vdisk is being streamed.
To change from static IP assignment to DHCP perform the following:
- Reverse Image the vdisk
- Boot to the local HDD and change to DHCP
- Recapture the vdisk
Problem Cause
This error indicates that when TCP/IP sent out an ARP for its IP address, it got a response from another machine indicating a duplicate IP address. When Windows is starting a network, this is a fatal error.
Another potential cause for this issue is that if the vdisk was captured using BDM configured with a static IP and then was later changed to use DHCP when streaming to multiple targets.
