XenDesktop 7 enables the use of Third Party Credential Providers and conjointly the use of Third Party Credential Provider Filters.

XenDesktop support for Third Party Credential Providers allows to customize the logon experience and to integrate the authentication methods that best meet the requirements of an organization.


Guidelines to Implement Third Party Credential Providers in Conjunction with the XenDesktop Tech Preview

  • Third Party Credential Providers and Third Party Credential Provider Filters must be designed in accordance with the Microsoft guidelines.

  • You can install one or more Third Party Credential Providers on Windows 7 or Windows 8 XenDesktop VDA.

  • You can install one or more Third Party Credential Provider Filters on Windows 7 or Windows 8 XenDesktop VDA.

  • If required a Third Party Credential Provider or a Third Party Credential Provider Filter can use the Citrix WFAPI SDK to query the session type ICA, Console or RDP.

  • The user authenticated by using a Third Party Credential Provider must match the user that originally authenticates with StoreFront to reach the XenDesktop VDA.

  • Third Party Credential Providers can be used on either virtual desktops or RemotePC configurations.
