Description

Machine Creation Services (MCS) created Windows Virtual Desktop Agents (VDAs) display the following error message when starting:

‘You must restart your computer to apply these changes’.

Resolution

Note: The identity disk causes the restart message.

To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:

  1. Create an MCS pooled catalog using the master virtual machine.

  2. Copy the identity disk from the pooled virtual machine to the master virtual machine folder and attach it as a new disk.

  3. Start the master virtual machine. After logon, the restart message is displayed. Click Restart Now. The virtual machine restarts.

  4. Allow the master virtual machine to restart and ensure the message no longer appears.

  5. Shut down the master virtual machine and detach the identity disk.

  6. Create a new snapshot of the master virtual machine and use it to make a new pooled catalog. The restart message should no longer appear.

Troubleshooting

At the You must restart your computer prompt, click Restart Later.
