Enabling DNS Address Resolution allows the XenApp 6 server to return the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the XenApp server to the ICA client using the XML Service. This also means that workstations must be able to resolve the FQDN of the XenApp 6 servers with this policy enabled.
Use the following steps to enable XML DNS Address Resolution:
Open the Citrix Delivery Services Console.
Within the Citrix Delivery Services Console, expand XenApp.
Click the Policies node.
Click the Computer tab.
If there are no computer policies created, click New.
Note: You can also edit an existing policy.
In the New Policy window, under Indentify your policy, type in a name for your policy. Click Next.
Click Server Settings. Click Add next to DNS address resolution.
If you do not plan to configure Worker Group filters, the next screen can be skipped. Click Next.
Enable this policy is checked by default. Click Save for the change to take effect.
The following screen shot shows the progress bar while the policy is being created.
Now, you can see the policy that was just created.
Run the following command so changes can be applied to the Domain immediately, without waiting for the default update interval:
gpupdate /force
Note: If you find that the client is still passing the IP address instead of the FQDN of the XenApp servers, recreate the localhost cache on the XenApp server. Refer to CTX759510 – Function of the Local Host Cache
