This article describes how to reinstall the Citrix Universal Print drivers in Windows 2008.

Requirements

  • XenApp 5.0 on Windows 2008, 32-bit or 64-bit
  • XenApp 6.x on Windows 2008 R2

Background

If  the Citrix Universal Print driver was removed accidently from the server, you had to repair the XenApp installation or use the Citrix Printing Tool to reinstall the driver.
In XenApp 5.0 or 6.0 for 2008, you can reinstall the drivers from the native driver cab, as long as the driver package was not removed with the driver.

Instructions

XenApp 5.0 on 2008

  1. On the XenApp server, open the Printers folder.

  2. Right-click on a blank area of the Printers folder and select Server Properties.

  3. Go to the Drivers tab and click Add.

  4. On the Add Printer Driver Wizard welcome screen, click Next.
  5. On the Processor and Operating System Selection screen, click Next.

  6. Let it enumerate the list of drivers available from the driver.cab file.

  7. Scroll through the list and select Citrix.

  8. Select the driver you would like to reinstall.

XenApp 6.0 on 2008 R2

  1. Open the Devices and Printers folder on the XenApp server.

  2. Highlight a printer then select Print server properties.

  3. Go to the Drivers tab and click Add.
  4. On the Add Printer Driver Wizard welcome screen, click Next.

  5. On the Processor and Operating System Selection screen, click Next.

  6. Let it enumerate the list of drivers available from the driver.cab file.

  7. Scroll through the list and select Citrix.

  8. Select the driver you would like to reinstall.

Additional Information

If the driver and driver package are removed from the server, then you will not see the driver in the list so it can be reinstalled. In this case, run repair the XenApp installation to reinstall the driver.
