This article contains information about Citrix group policy engine. The Citrix group policy engine in XenApp version 6.0 and later allows integration of Citrix policies with Windows Active Directory group policies. This policy engine is installed by default when the Delivery Services console is installed on a XenApp version 6.0 and later server or a stand-alone computer.
To configure policies to integrate with Active Directory you must open the Group Policy Management Console, which should be enabled on the XenApp server during installation. You cannot access this policy engine from a computer that does not have the Citrix group policy engine installed. This is what allows the integration of Citrix policies into the Windows policy engine. Polices integrated with Active Directory group policies are refreshed every 90 minutes, by default. Policies can be updated immediately if you use the gpupdate tool.
The Citrix group policy engine adds a Citrix node in the Group Policy Management Console and Group Policy Object Editor.
If the XenApp server is not in an Active Directory domain and is part of a work group then the policy should be configured using the policies node in the Delivery Services console. Policies configured in the Delivery Services console are stored in the IMA database and written out to the Windows policy engine. Policy settings are propagated to servers that are part of the same farm and the settings are written to the registry of the XenApp server.
Computer policies comprise of server settings that were present before in the farm and server properties in previous versions.
The policy settings are stored in the following registry locations:
32-bit components: HKLM\Software\Policies\Citrix
64-bit components: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Policies\Citrix
The user policies enable or disable specific features for the user sessions. Policy settings are stored in the following registry locations:
32-bit components: HKLM\Software\Policies\Citrix\<SessionID>
64-bit components: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Policies\Citrix\<SessionID>
