Description

This article describes how  to enable and configure the Client Graphic Settings option through Group Policy settings.

Requirements

Citrix icaclient.adm template is used to make changes that is located in the directory path: Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client\Configuration OR Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client\Configuration.

Instructions

The Group Policy for Client graphic settings is located in the Group Policy folder path, using the Local Policy Editor snap-in within the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

Right-click Administrative Templates and select Add/Remove Templates and browse to the icaclient.adm to configure.
Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates > Citrix Components > Citrix Receiver or XenApp Plugin for Hosted Apps > User Experience > Client graphic settings.

The available Options in the graphic settings are:

    Color Depth
Used to determine the color depth for the ICA session. Color depth will be applied to the session, regardless of what the application color depth is set at in the published application settings.

    Disk-based Caching
This setting can be enabled to assist with workstations that have limited RAM through the session to save temporary graphic objects to the client’s disk cache. Disk cache has the ability to handle larger size objects.

    Lossy Compression
This setting, when enabled, allows the server to degrade the quality of graphics transferred over the ICA session; this is usually as a result of bandwidth limitations. Clearing the check box forces the server to transfer all images at full quality, regardless of any server or network limitations.
Note: Having this setting enabled is not always recommended because it might be critical for some applications to be displayed at full quality or resolution, such as x-ray, and medical.

    SpeedScreen Browser Acceleration
This setting allows for images to be transferred over the SpeedScreen Browser Acceleration virtual channel. This assists with the performance of Microsoft Internet Explorer over ICA sessions. This feature can also be enabled using a Citrix policy, or the properties of the farm (or server) in the Access Management Console.

SpeedScreen Browser Acceleration – lossy compression
This setting is an extension to the SpeedScreen Browser Acceleration option; allowing for the server to use the lossy compression functionality for browser image transfers.

    Remote video
When enabled, this setting allows the XenApp server to directly stream specific video data to the client, without compressing (or decompressing) it first.

SpeedScreen Latency Reduction- keyboard local echo (and mouse pointer prediction)
This feature allows for the client component to manage and control how the mouse and text input are displayed, resulting in immediate feedback being displayed to the user. This is very useful in environments where there is significant network latency.
Note:To allow for this feature to be fully functional, you must also enable the server-side component, which is administered using the Speedscreen Latency Reduction Manager.

  3. Run the following command to ensure that the policy is correctly applied:
    gpupdate /force
