This article describes how to enable and manage Client Drive Mapping features using the Citrix XenApp plug-in Group Policy settings.
Note: Citrix Icaclient.adm template is used to make changes in the XenApp plug-in Group policy. The icaclient.adm template was implemented with the release of the 10.x client version.
The icaclient.adm template is located in the Program files\Citrix\ICA Client\Configuration directory on the client workstation.
Note: New Receiver versions have two template files "receiver.adml" and "receiver.admx" and they can be added by placing them into C:\Windows\PolicyDefintions. Refer to Citrix Documentation - Configure Receiver with the Group Policy Object template for more information.
The XenApp Plug-in Group Policy for Client Drive Mapping settings are located in the Group Policy folder path Administrative Templates > Citrix Components > Citrix XenApp Plug-in for Hosted Apps > Remoting client devices (client drive mapping).
Important: If you enable XenApp Plug-in Group policy for all users ICA logons (for example, enabling as an Active Directory GPO for Domain Users), you must select the policy option for Enable client drive mapping (see the following image). If this policy option is not selected, the clients drive mapping fails to work; it prevents the CDM virtual channel DLL, vdcdmn.dll, from loading.
If you want to restrict users to write and/or save data to users local drives while in ICA sessions, select the Read-only client drives.
If you want to restrict the mapping of specific client drive letters for users ICA sessions, select the drive letters that you want to block from the Do not map drives drop-down list. Any drive letters that you select cannot be mapped or displayed in users ICA sessions.
After you have completed the required settings for XenApp Plug-in Group policy, you must run the gpupdate /force command to ensure that the policy is correctly applied.
