When removing or Installing the Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) Server Console or Citrix Provisioning Services( PVS) target Device X64 from Add/Remove Programs or Provisioning services ISO, the following error message appears:
“Error 1722. There is a problem with the Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor UnInstallAssembly location…”

Solution 1:Complete the following steps to fix the issue:
Open the link from Microsoft site Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled and click Run Now.
Follow Microsoft Fix It wizard to remove Citrix PVS Server.
When the wizard is completed, access the registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Citrix and delete the ProvisioningServer folder.
In the directory, C:\Program Files\Citrix\ delete Provisioning Server Console and PVS Server folder. This requires a reboot of the server to prevent any active threads.
Reinstall PVS Server Console from the PVS Server 5.0 Service Pack 1a installation files.
SOLUTION 2: To resolve the issue, disable the group policy using the following steps:
1. Logon to the system (Administrative Privileges is required).
2.Open Windows Control Panel.
3.Search for Group Policy.
The search results display a link to the “Local Group Policy Editor”.
4.In the editor, go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Application Compatibility
5.In the right pane, right-click Turn off Windows Installer RDS Compatibility and select Edit from the drop down menu.
6.Select the Radio Button Enable.
7.Click OK.
When attempting to uninstall Citrix PVS Server x64 5.0.0, error message 1722 appears and the product will not uninstall.
Note : Solution 2: This error may occur due to permissions problem from where the software is being accessed and also sometimes when installing the software, it hangs at “Windows Installer Coordinator” window. |
