New Capabilities in Director 7.6.100

Citrix Director 7.6.100 includes these new and enhanced capabilities:
Virtual machine usage: Provides administrators with the real-time view of their VM usage so they can quickly assess their site’s capacity needs. VM usage is categorized by Desktop OS availability and Server OS availability.

  • Desktop OS availability: Displays the current state of Desktop OS machines (VDIs) by availability for the entire site or specific Delivery Group.

  • Server OS availability: Displays the current state of Server OS machines by availability for the entire site or specific Delivery Group.

  • ​​Export improvements: Enhanced to provide the option of exporting the trends reports in CSV, PDF, and Excel formats.

  • Zoom-in drill down enhancements: Drill down capabilities were added to Director 7.6. This enhanced feature lets administrators navigate through trend charts by zooming in on a time period (clicking on a data point in the graph) and drilling down to see the details associated with the trend. The administrators can now better understand the details of who or what has been affected by the trends being displayed.

Instructions

Use Citrix Director 7.6.100 with a new installation of Director or an upgrade from Director 7.x or later.

Requirements

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 and later
  • IIS 7 and later
  • .Net 4.5.1 and later

Note: If you are installing Director the first time, see the New Installation instructions. If you are upgrading to 7.6.100 from an existing Director 7.x version, see the Upgrade Instructions.

New Installation of Director 7.6.100

  • Prerequisites:
  • Install Director 7.6.100 from MSI file.
  • Install CitrixGroupPolicyManagement MSI file available under the folder Citrix Policy from XenDesktop DVD.
  • Post Installation steps:
    • For configuring Director with DDC, use DirectorConfig.exe tool available in the folder C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Director\tools. For more information see CTX137990 - Citrix Director - DirectorConfig Tool.
    • For successful Login to Director, ASP.net needs to be registered with IIS.
      • For Registering ASP.Net with IIS, run command “C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Director\tools\DirectorConfig.exe /upgrade”.
    • Create Rule in Windows Firewall to allow communication from Port 80, 443.

Upgrade to Director 7.6.100 from Director 7.x

  • Prerequisites:
    • .Net 4.5.1.
      • .Net 4.5.1 is already installed on Director 7.6.
      • Install .Net 4.5.1 while upgrading from Director 7.0, Director 7.1 and Director 7.5.
    • IIS:
      • Existing IIS features for 7.x will work perfectly. No new feature is required. For required IIS features, see List of IIS features required section.
  • Install Director 7.6.100 from MSI file.
  • Post Installation steps:
    • Run command “C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Director\tools\DirectorConfig.exe /upgrade”.
      Note: The command needs to be run with elevated administrative rights or it will fail. The latest Director Configuration settings will not be available without running this command.
