Instructions

To apply a Citrix Hypervisor license to a Citrix License Server Virtual Appliance, complete the following procedures:

1.      Configure the Citrix License Server Virtual Appliance
2.      Configure the Web License Administration Console
3.      Add a License File
4.      Assign a License File

 

 
  1. Download the Citrix License Server VPX from the link Citrix License Server VPX.
  2. From the XenCenter File menu, click Import and follow the on-screen instructions to import the Citrix License Server Virtual Appliance.



Note: When the import task is complete, the CLSVA appears as a Virtual Machine (VM) on your host.

3. 
Open the Console tab of the appliance and create a root password for the Citrix License Server Virtual Appliance VM.


4.      Specify a hostname and a domain name.
5.      Confirm whether you want to use DHCP to configure network settings.
6.      Review the network settings and type y to confirm.
 

Configure the License Administration Console

1. When prompted, choose an administrator username and password for the web-based License Administration Console



2.      When the License Server configuration is complete, an IP address and a port number appears on the screen.
3.      Open a web browser and copy the details (for example, http://<ip address>:<port number>), and click Enter. The displays the License Administration Console.

4. In the top right corner of the Console, click Administration.
5. Log on using administrator username and password and change the password when prompted.

Add a License File

1.      On the left pane, click Vendor Daemon Configuration and then Import License.



2. Navigate to the location where you have saved your license file and click Import License.
3. Read the information displayed on the screen and click OK.
4. On the Vendor Daemon Configuration page, click Administer and then Reread License Files.
5. Repeat Steps 1 to 4 to add more licenses to the License Server.

 

Assign a License File

1.      In XenCenter, click Tools and then License Manager.

2.      Select the host to which you want to apply the license and click Assign License.

3.      On the Apply License dialog box, specify the IP address of the license server.

       Notes:

  • Type the IP address of the Citrix License Server Virtual Appliance VM.

  • The default port is 27000. This is the port XenCenter uses to access the License Server. Note that it is different from the web-based License Administration Console port, which is 8082.

4. Click OK. The status of the host is displayed as Licensed.

     "Congratulations! You have successfully applied a license file to your XenServer host."
