Symptom: Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) machines hosted on-premises spontaneously switch to an "Unregistered" state in Citrix Cloud.
Impact: Users are unable to launch new sessions or connect to affected desktop and application resources.
Underlying Causes:
Intermittent network drops, port blockages, or service failures on local Cloud Connectors.
DNS latency, stale name resolution records, or unupdated IP address changes.
Master image issues, VM reboot loops, or duplicate VirtualDesktopID registry conflicts among cloned virtual machines.
Work through the following troubleshooting areas to identify and resolve the root cause:
Check Service Health: Ensure the Citrix Remote Broker Provider service is running without interruption on all local Cloud Connectors.
Test Port Accessibility: Verify that TCP ports 80, 443, and 8080 remain open and unblocked by internal firewalls between VDAs and Cloud Connectors.
Inspect Network Stability: Monitor for packet loss or intermittent connectivity drops between local VDAs and the Cloud Connectors.
Clear Stale Records: Ensure DNS servers respond quickly and remove outdated host records that could cause VDAs to lose track of active Cloud Connectors.
Check IP Configurations: Verify that any dynamic IP changes on Cloud Connectors are immediately reflected across local DNS servers.
Eliminate Duplicate IDs: If cloned VMs share the same VirtualDesktopID in the registry, they will compete for the same registration slot. Run New-ProvScheme or re-seal/re-prep your golden image to ensure unique IDs.
Investigate Startup Issues: Resolve any VM startup delays or reboot loops that prevent VDAs from completing their initial handshake with the broker.
4. Check for time sync issues and related kerbrose errors on the VDA.
5. Check if there are any events of citrix desktop service crashing.
On-premises VDA machines managed via Citrix Cloud are unexpectedly losing their registration status on their own. This behavior is typically caused by communication breakdowns, network latency, or configuration conflicts between the local resource location and Citrix Cloud.
