The volume slider within the published Citrix session resets to 0% immediately after the user attempts to increase it.

Note:

• The issue occurs only on multisession (RDSH) VDAs with Microsoft update KB5094126 installed.

• Single-session machines are also affected

• Also using CWA inside VDA (double-hop) results in no audio

• Affected Platform: Windows 11 24H2/25H2 Multisession (RDSH)

Citrix is actively investigating this issue. There is currently no workaround. Until a fix is provided by Microsoft or Citrix, its recommended to disable the change that caused this issue using Known Issue Rollback (KIR) provided by Microsoft. Follow below steps on Windows 11 version 24H2/25H2 Multisession (RDSH) VDA to apply the KIR:

Note: A KIR policy definition has a limited lifespan (a few months, at most). After Microsoft publishes an amended update to address the original issue, the KIR is no longer necessary. The policy definition can then be removed from the Group Policy infrastructure.

• Download the OS‑specific KIR MSI

  • Use the following link to download the MSI package for Windows 11 versions 24H2 / 25H2: Download KIR MSI

• Run the MSI Installer

  • Execute the downloaded MSI file.

  • This installs an ADMX file into the %systemroot%\policydefinitions folder.

  • The ADMX file exposes an OS version‑specific KIR Group Policy setting that can be configured via local or domain Group Policy Editors.

• Configure the Group Policy Setting

  • Open the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) or your Domain Group Policy Management Console.

  • Navigate to the newly added policy: KB9999999 260619_18322 Feature Preview

  • Set the policy to Disabled.

    • Disabled: This rolls back the corresponding fixes with known issues. Use this option to revert the problematic change.

  • Supported on: Windows 11 version 24H2, 25H2

• Reboot the Machine

  • Restart the system to apply the rollback.

After installing the Microsoft Windows security update KB5094126 (released June 2026) on Windows 11 24H2/25H2 multisession VDAs, audio volume in Citrix ICA sessions automatically resets to 0% and cannot be adjusted. Audio recording and playback devices may also fail to function correctly within the session.
