Description

When downloading the ADMX templates for Citrix Workspace app for Windows (Current Release builds such as 2511), the ZIP package may not include the CitrixBase.ADMX file. In some cases, a corresponding language file (for example, CitrixBase.ADML) may still be present, which can add to the confusion.

Why this happens

  • The CitrixBase.ADMX file is no longer required for current Citrix Workspace app policy management.
  • Its absence is intentional and aligns with recent product changes to simplify and standardize policy templates.
  • Older versions (such as earlier LTSR releases) may still include this file, which is why differences are noticeable when comparing versions.

Impact to customers

  • ✅ No impact to Group Policy processing
  • ✅ Existing and supported Citrix ADMX policies continue to work as expected

If you are upgrading from an older version and notice this difference, no action is required. You can safely continue using the available ADMX templates included with your Workspace app version.

  • Avoid mixing ADMX files from different Workspace app versions.
  • If a language file exists without its base ADMX file, it can be ignored, as it is not used by current policy definitions.

 

Issue/Introduction

In some Citrix Workspace app for Windows releases, administrators may notice that the CitrixBase.ADMX file is missing from the downloaded ADMX template package. This behavior can be unexpected, especially when comparing with earlier releases where the file was present.
This is by design and does not indicate a broken or incomplete installation. The missing file does not impact functionality or the ability to configure Citrix Workspace app using Group Policy.
