Description
Introduction
When a hardware configuration is described as supported by Citrix, it means that while such hardware is not listed on the XenServer Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), it has nevertheless been validated by Citrix through the customer self-certification process outlined below and therefor qualifies for Citrix software support.
Why This Designation Exists
Several scenarios create the need for a “Supported by Citrix” listing:
- Customers or hardware vendors may have hardware that is not yet included in the official XenServer Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).
- Some vendors do not have the resources to proactively certify platforms or components prior to release, but they are willing to rely on validated certification kit results to accelerate hardware listings.
Process
1. Run the Certification Kit
Customers or vendors download and run the appropriate certification kit from:
https://hcl.xenserver.com/certkits/
- Submitting Results
- Customers work with their Account Technology Strategist (ATS) or XenServer Product Manager to submit a supported by Citrix request through a Tracker ticket.
- Vendors with Tracker access may submit results directly.
- Citrix Review
TheXenServer HCL team reviews and validates the submitted results. Citrix will notify the relevant hardware vendor and provide an opportunity for the configuration to be promoted to Vendor Certified and listed officially on the HCL.
- If the Vendor Does Not ConfirmOperating System/HardwareSupport
If the test results of the customer submitted certification kit have passed the Citrix review process and have been validate by the XenServer HCL team, but the hardware vendor is not prepared to confirm full operating system or hardware support, then the validated hardware configuration will be designated as supported by Citrix only.
Such a designation means that Citrix would provide software‑level support for XenServer running on the hardware, firmware, and driver versions validated through the certification kit.
Support Model
In this context, hardware that is supported by Citrix means that Citrix provides software‑level support for XenServer when it is running on the validated hardware configuration.
- Support is limited strictly to the exact hardware model, firmware version, and driver version shown in the validated test results.
- Software‑level refers to software offered by Citrix only. Third‑party software, such as hardware drivers, is not included.
- Support from the hardware vendor should not be assumed. It is recommended to consult the hardware vendor to confirm its hardware’s compatibility with XenServer.
